Home Nesting/Beginnings

On my porch I found this nest. The nest was a metaphor for home as I photographed the image I appreciated the pattern and found beauty in the natural pieces found inside such as wool, Threads, maple seed that created this intricate weaving and home. When I look at the photographs I see faces. I then started with the shape and idea using charcoal on the 7 ft x 4 foot paper prepared with gesso. It felt like I was making marks, different types of marks and the theme became conception, uterus, ovaries, a womb nest.Gaston Backeland says: “The house is a nest for dreaming, a shelter for imagining. I am open to my understanding of house, houses, nooks, crannies and exploring luminal space.
